Introduction

A 13-pin ( 7+6 ) slim SATA connector is a type of SATA connector that combines both data and power connections into a single slim cable. It is designed to be used with slim SATA ports on motherboards or devices that support this type of connector. The 13-pin slim SATA connector has a slim profile that is smaller and more flexible than the standard 22-pin SATA connector. The 13-pin slim SATA connector is sometimes referred to as a "slimline SATA" connector, and it typically has a maximum data transfer rate of 3 Gbps (Gigabits per second), which is the same as the standard SATA interface.

It is often used to connect the ultra-thin notebook SATA optical drive and Slim SATA DVD+/-RW Drive to a normal SATA port.  It also comes with a Molex power connector which helps to power up the drive.
