Description

Introduction

This DVI-I (Digital Visual Interface - Integrated) Dual Link cable is a specific type of DVI cable that supports higher resolutions and refresh rates compared to its single-link counterpart. The term "dual link" refers to the increased bandwidth and data capacity of the cable, allowing for higher resolutions and faster refresh rates to be transmitted between devices. A DVI-I Dual Link cable has additional pins compared to a single-link cable, resulting in more data pathways. Dual Link DVI cables are capable of supporting resolutions up to 4K@30Hz or lower resolutions at even higher refresh rates, making them suitable for high-definition displays, professional monitors, and certain specialized applications that require increased visual fidelity.

These cables are backward compatible, which means they can be used with devices that support single-link DVI connections, but they won't necessarily transmit data at the higher capacities of a dual link connection in such cases.

What’s a DVI-I interface ?

A DVI-I (Digital Visual Interface - Integrated) 24+5 pin port carries both analogue and digital signals. The "24+5" pin configuration refers to the number of pins within the connector. The 24 pins typically handle the digital video signal (DVI-D). The extra 5 pins around the flat blade on one side of the connector accommodate the analogue signal (DVI-A). These pins allow for backward compatibility with VGA devices using a DVI-to-VGA adapter. DVI-I cables can be used to connect devices like computer monitors, projectors, and some TVs to devices like computers, gaming consoles, DVD players, or Blu-ray players that support DVI connections.
